MOUNT VERNON, VA – For the second year in a row, George Washington’s Mount Vernon has been selected as one of The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces. Mount Vernon employs tradespeople, educators, curators, food servers, fundraisers, and many other roles crucial to operating Washington’s incredible historic estate. The Top Workplaces awards are determined solely upon employee feedback. The country’s most visited historic home currently employs 334 full-time employees.

“We are delighted to have been named as one of the Top Workplaces in DC,” said Curt Viebranz, president of Mount Vernon. “While we are a historic property, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to engage our employees. Our knowledgeable and passionate staff is among our greatest assets.”

Through thought-provoking tours, entertaining events, and stimulating educational programs on the estate and in classrooms across the nation, Mount Vernon employees strive to preserve George Washington’s place in history as “First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen.”  More than 500 Mount Vernon employees were surveyed about their work experience for this award.

Mount Vernon has been owned and operated since 1858 by a group of ladies officially called “The Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association of the Union.” As the beloved home of the Father of our Country, it is a national shrine, revered and visited by millions of Americans and people from other countries.

The Washington Post published the complete list of Top Workplaces on June 21.
