MOUNT VERNON, VA – George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the home of our nation’s first President, invites rising college juniors to apply for the Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows program, a free five-and-a-half week summer leadership program that takes place June 8 - July 15, 2015. The program will be based at the new Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington. The Fellows will participate in dynamic academic workshops, experiential activities, and a capstone project that fully utilizes the rich resources of Washington, D.C., the nation’s newest presidential library, and the iconic Mount Vernon estate. The Fellowship carries a cash award as well as transportation and living expenses.
“The Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows program allows students to not only walk in Washington’s footsteps, but to immerse themselves in a leadership development program inspired by the life and legacy of George Washington,” said George Washington’s Mount Vernon president Curt Viebranz.
This new residential summer fellowship is designed to empower the next generation of this nation's top leaders. Fellows will build valuable leadership skills, explore concrete ways to make an impact on society while interacting with an elite group of like-minded student leaders from across the country. They will learn from the nation’s top corporate, military, government, and non-profit leaders. The Fellows program is designed for impactful personal growth, developing a network of professional contacts, presenting a mission-oriented service project, and becoming a lifelong member of a connected and engaged community of program alumni.
The deadline for applications is February 1, 2015. For more information and to apply, please visit MountVernon.org/Fellows.
