Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup rum
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 4 teaspoons ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon water

Directions

Mix the first five ingredients together and then add the flour to make a soft dough. You may need to add more flour but never use more than 3 cups. Add the baking soda mixed with the water. Chill dough one hour. Measure the dough with a teaspoon and roll into marble-sized pieces. Flatten with your hand. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Watch carefully. They burn easily
