Enjoy this modern casserole. 

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds squash
  • 2 egg, beaten
  • 6 ounces melted margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 medium onion, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups torn bread, crusts removed
  • Butter or margarine
  • Paprika

Directions

Cook squash, drain well and mash. Add eggs, margarine, milk, onion, Worcestershire, sugar, salt, parsley, and cheese. Put in a 3-quart casserole. Add a layer of bread, a layer of squash mixture 2 times, ending with a layer of bread on top. Dot with margarine and sprinkle with paprika. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
