Visit the Bowling Green to learn about the Boston Tea Party. Enjoy fun activities led by the Mount Vernon staff, such as exploring the teas dumped into Boston Harbor and decorating your own tea chest. There will also be take home crafts and a scavenger hunt to explore the estate.
Activities and take-home craft kits available while supplies last.

11:00 a.m. - Listen to a member of Mount Vernon staff read Colonial Voices by Kay Winters and pick up a scavenger hunt.

Watch our costumed interpreters as they take you through each step of the chocolate-making process—from cacao seed to chocolate mills— and learn more about the preparation of hot chocolate and chocolate tea at Mount Vernon.
Sensory-Friendly Accommodations
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Between 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Mount Vernon will welcome guests who desire a quieter visit, including individuals on the autism spectrum and those with other sensory processing disorders.
To create a more sensory-friendly experience during this time, hand dryers will be turned off, lights and audio in exhibit spaces will be turned down, and select interactives will be turned off.
