In September and October 1774, George Washington was in Philadelphia attending the First Contintental Congress. While there, he also went shopping for things they needed at Mount Vernon. One of the biggest purchase he made was three sets of bedhangings at the upholstery shop owned by Betsy and John Ross.
In 2024, Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia commemorated this historic meeting and created a set of miniature bedhangings to represent the ones made by Betsy Ross.
Join the Youth Programs team at the Discovery Cart to learn more about how these two historic figures met and see the bedhangings created by the team at Betsy Ross House.
*In the event of bad weather, this program will move to Ford Orientation Center.
