Guests will learn about Washington’s roles as soldier, community leader, Commander-in-Chief, statesman, and President while understanding how those roles changed the needs of his estate and his expectations on the enslaved community.

Explore the grounds of the place George Washington called home for nearly 45 years, Mount Vernon.

George Washington moved to Mount Vernon after his brother’s death in 1754, the same year he began his career as a soldier in the Virginia Wilderness in the French and Indian War.
