Join Education staff and K-12 teachers from across the DMV to explore the many connections between STEAM and the history of George Washington’s Mount Vernon and the 18th century through the lens of Washington's fisheries operations. 

Teachers who register must be currently educating D.C., MD, or VA students in a formal K-12 school environment.

Integrate History & Steam Concepts

Learn from various experts from Mount Vernon’s Historic Trades team through presentations on the fisheries at Mount Vernon, one of Washington's most profitable operations. 

Gain confidence in integrating history and STEAM concepts in an interdisciplinary context to support student learning while building a network of local peers.

Attend with a teaching partner or collaborative team to design learning experiences to take back to your classroom, department, grade level, and/or school.

Registration Details

  • Teachers must be currently working in K-12 formal school settings
  • Priority will be given to teachers and/or coordinators working in Title 1 schools.
  • We highly recommend attending with a teaching partner or collaborative team.
  • You and your partners may only sign up for ONE workshop in Spring 2023 (March 7 or May 17).
  • You and your partners may not have attended a STEAM workshop at Mount Vernon within six months prior
  • Each workshop is limited to 35 teachers.
  • A waitlist will be made available after registration meets full capacity.
