Discovery of 18th-Century Preserved Fruit
This past spring, Mount Vernon's archaeology team discovered 35 bottles buried in the Mansion cellar, 29 of which were intact. Even more exciting than the bottles themselves were the contents inside! The team found remnants from the fruits that had been preserved - including stems and seeds from tart cherries.
Join the Youth Programs team in the Ford Orientation Center to learn more about this unprecedented discovery and the latest research being done on these bottles and their contents. You can also pick up a cherry pie recipe to take home.
