Mansion Revitalization: Expanding the Bunker

Between May and October 2023, work began at Mount Vernon to expand the current mechanical systems bunker as part of the Mansion Revitalization Project. The expansion was dug next to the existing bunker to provide additional space for mechanical systems that will supply more capacity for environmental control of zones with the new HVAC system. This will include, for the first time, climate control in the Mansion’s cellar.
