Private Evening Tours

Step back in time to walk in George Washington’s footsteps and enjoy lantern-lit lanes at Mount Vernon. 

Your evening will include a personalized 60 to 90 minute candlelight tour of the nearby grounds with stunning Potomac River views.

Dates Offered

Due to the Mansion Revitalization Project, there will be no private evening tours available from Nov 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025. 

We will begin offering private evening tours on April 1, 2025

  • On April 1, 2025, the private evening tour that we will offer is a grounds tour that can be one of the themes listed below.

Enjoy exclusive access to the most popular historic home in America while your group enjoys one of our tour enhancements.

Cost: $85 per guest; maximum 100 guests; $2,500 minimum

Hamilton Tour

Our popular Hamilton tour is now offered to groups! This 60-minute specialty tour uses lyrics from the hit musical Hamilton to explore George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

As you “look around, look around” the estate grounds, you’ll discuss the themes of the musical, the real-life events that inspired it, and “who lives, who dies, who tells your story.”

Gardens and Landscapes Tour

Come take a walk through the General’s garden and see the founding flowers that recreate Washington’s 18th-century landscape and gardens.

This one-hour tour discusses the practical landscape design of the Mansion house farm at Mount Vernon.

Telling Their Stories: Mount Vernon's Enslaved People

Explore the estate's historic outbuildings where the enslaved community lived and worked. Hear the stories of individuals such as William Lee, Caroline Branham, and Christopher Sheels, and learn how their work made Mount Vernon a successful plantation. 

This tour can be extended with a special wreath-laying at the Slave Memorial.

Get a head start by arriving at Mount Vernon during regular business hours for a discounted rate of $10 per guest (when added to a Private Evening Tour).
