U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to Welcome 100 New U.S. Citizens at Naturalization Ceremony
One of the most historically significant venues to celebrate America’s birthday is the home of America’s beloved first president, George Washington. At George Washington’s Mount Vernon, visitors can honor the nation at an array of historical and family-friendly events planned for Independence Day.
Located just outside of Washington, D.C., on the banks of the historic Potomac River, America’s Birthday events and activities include:
- The annual evening Independence Day fireworks display, along with 18th-century music and entertainment. Tickets remain only for June 28th and typically sell out early, so reserve soon. Learn more.
- An American Celebration on July 4. During this patriotic event, visitors can enjoy made-for-daytime fireworks, hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence, watch military drills, listen to the National Concert Band, and engage with 18th-century character interpreters. Visitors can watch the 18th-century baking process with Resident Baker Justin Cherry of Half Crown Bakehouse and sample fresh-baked bread. Guests also can observe a moving naturalization ceremony where more than 100 people will be sworn in as U.S. citizens. Learn more.
