Editorial Notes

Virginia Lieutenant Governor Robert Dinwiddie provided Washington supplies to facilitate negotiations with Ohio Valley Native American tribes.  Washington's situation was particularly perilous as French forces were only a short distance away and also trying to curry favor with local tribes.
