The Sanda and Jeremiah Lambert Hands-on-History Center is closed for an extensive rebuild and will reopen in 2026.

The Sanda and Jeremiah Lambert Hands-on-History Center at Mount Vernon is a bright, engaging space where children ages 8-11 and their grownups can explore history and Washington’s world together.

Through hands-on activities, replica artifacts, and interactive exhibits, young visitors will discover how Washington grew from a curious young person into the leader we all look to today, and explore their own character and values along the way.

Explore the gardens through murals, read in Washington’s study, try the fan chair, and discover that history isn’t just about the past but a world filled with bright colors and inspiring people.
