Mount Vernon: The Story of an American Icon
In the museum, discover the people who shaped Mount Vernon, including Washington and Custis family members, enslaved and hired laborers, and Vice Regents of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, which has owned and preserved Mount Vernon since the 19th century.

Lives Bound Together: Slavery at Mount Vernon
Explore the lives of the enslaved people at Mount Vernon with our new exhibit, included with admission. Learn about the 317 enslaved people who lived and worked at George Washington’s five farms, gristmill, and distillery. Find out how enslaved people formed families, created tight-knit communities, earned money, and acquired personal possessions.

Education Center
Get early access now during a special preview period to our new exhibition, George Washington: A Revolutionary Life, opening in June.
In the Education Center, trace Washington’s life story through exhibits, a 4D Revolutionary War film, and the Be Washington Interactive Theater.

Education CenterPatriots Path: A Revolutionary War Encampment
The Revolutionary War encampment is moving to a brand new location near the Oxen paddock on the 12-acre field. Until then, visit our Continental Army interpreters in the Donald W. Reynolds Museum lobby.
Experience the American Revolution as you walk through an 18th-century Continental Army encampment featuring soldiers' tents and an officer’s tent.
At this hands-on attraction, you can touch the items inside the tents, wash clothes in the laundry yard, and examine cooking utensils used by camp followers.
Interpreters will be on hand to share information about life in the encampment and answer questions.

Groups have a special opportunity to dine on our scenic 12-acre field in a large, covered outdoor dining tent with the Mansion in view.
Dining under a large tent with views of the historic area and the West Gate is a rare opportunity. For many students, this will be a memorable and unique part of their visit.
