Mount Vernon, VA, June 22, 2026 – Stand Together, Wonder Project, Angel the Bill of Rights Institute, and George Washington’s Mount Vernon invite members of the media to an exclusive advance screening of a groundbreaking new film, “Young Washington” on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
Seating is extremely limited. Please RSVP by Thursday, June 25, 2026, to Lauren Herba at [email protected] to confirm attendance.
Film Director Jon Erwin and star William Franklyn-Miller (young George Washington) will be available for press interviews on the carpet, and the evening also will include a post-screening Q&A moderated by Mount Vernon President & CEO Doug Bradburn.
Releasing during the nation's 250th anniversary, “Young Washington” offers a timely reminder of the resilience, courage, and possibility that have long defined the American spirit. The film follows Washington's formative years, exploring leadership, civic responsibility, and character through the challenges that shaped him.
The much anticipated film opens in theaters nationwide July 3, 2026, and is the centerpiece of a new civics education initiative using film to help students engage with history, leadership, and the founding principles of the Declaration of Independence. The screening will spotlight a broader classroom initiative led by the Bill of Rights Institute alongside Stand Together, an impact partner to Wonder Project and Angel. The effort will bring “Young Washington” into schools nationwide through free lesson plans, discussion guides, educator screenings, and a digital resource hub reaching more than 90,000 educators, as well as microschool and homeschool communities.
