Join Mount Vernon for a Series of Free Virtual Programs in 2026

Join Mount Vernon experts, scholars, and character interpreters as they explore various aspects of George Washington’s life, leadership, and legacy. Programs will run from January to May, and again from September to December. Teachers and homeschool educators can sign up with their class or share the link with their students.

January 26: Lessons in Leadership - George Washington and the 18th Century World

1 p.m. - 2 p.m. E.T.

Learn about Washington’s leadership and his legacy of public service and civic engagement. 

Through an analysis of his early life, his pivotal role in the American Revolution, and the precedents he set as the first President, students will gain a deeper understanding of the qualities of a great leader, mistakes that even the most renowned leaders can make, and the lessons we can take away from both their failures and achievements.

Join our Education team for a live celebration of one of our country's greatest leaders!

Explore George Washington's life, examine the connections between his birthday and Presidents' Day, and reflect on how Washington's legacy still impacts our lives today.
