Experience the American Revolution as you walk through an 18th-century Continental Army encampment featuring soldiers' tents and an officer’s tent. 

At this hands-on attraction, you can touch the items inside the tents, wash clothes in the laundry yard, and examine cooking utensils used by camp followers. 

Interpreters will be on hand 7 days a week to share information about the life in the encampment and answer questions.

Step Back in Time with our Revolutionary War Encampment

What was life like for Continental soldiers and patriots during the Revolutionary War?

Immerse yourself in the daily life of soldiers, military officers, and the camp followers who traveled with the army as you explore our Revolutionary War encampment.

Tents for Soldiers and Officers

Walk through the encampment and note the differences between the soldiers’ and officers’ quarters, and learn about the hierarchy of the army.

Explore the soldiers’ tents to see clothing and personal hygiene items from the period, and discover how soldiers spent their time off the battlefield.

In the officer’s tent, learn about events that occurred 250 years ago through period maps and documents from the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill

Cooking & Laundry Yard

Try your hand at washing clothes and hanging them to dry in the laundry yard, and touch the various tools needed for cooking for a large number of people.

Scheduled Programming

Musket firing and cooking demonstrations are offered regularly.
