What are the hours of the George Washington Presidential Library's hours?
The library is open to researchers by appointment Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is closed on weekends and all major holidays.
The Washington Library is not open for public tours.

The library is located at 3600 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy, Mount Vernon, VA 22121.
It is accessible by vehicle and by foot. The pedestrian entrance is located across the street from the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant.
Is the Washington Library included with an estate general admission ticket?
No, the Washington Library is not included with the Mount Vernon estate general admission ticket. We do not offer public tours.

Who can use the Washington Library?
The Washington Library is open to all those interested in doing research, and those needing a quiet place to work or write.
Researchers of all ages, experiences, and backgrounds may use the collections, though restrictions apply for rare materials.
All research appointments must be requested at least 48 hours in advance.
Does the Washington Library lend books?
No, but all researchers have open access to browse the general collections without restriction.
Some general collections materials are kept in the closed stacks and will be paged by a Washington Library staff member.
What special collections materials are available for research?
All special collections materials are available for researchers with a demonstrated need.
Digital and photo-stat surrogates are available for many of our rare materials.
What materials are available on the history of the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association?
Our institutional archives dates back to the 1850s, the earliest years of the MVLA.
The collection includes records from the MVLA Board, Mount Vernon administrators, staff reports, financial records, commissioned Mount Vernon materials, and historic photographs of the estate.
