You might be surprised to learn that George Washington was actually a big fan of chocolate! Although 18th-century Americans did not enjoy candy bars or other modern chocolate treats as we know them today, they did love chocolate. In fact, George Washington ordered 20 pounds of chocolate from British merchant Thomas Knox in 1757. Enjoy our video where one of our historical interpreters demonstrates how chocolate would have been made and enjoyed in the 18th century.
