Mount Vernon presents the 2019 Loan Exhibit at the Washington Winter Antique Show from January 11-13. The exhibit, titled The Pleasure of Your Company: Elegant Entertaining with George and Martha Washington, explores the popular themes of dining, hospitality, and entertaining with the nation’s principal Founding Father. The display features a wide variety of original objects, including examples of their porcelain, silver, and china, as well as the harpsichord reproduction.
In this video, executive director of historic preservation and collections Susan Schoelwer gives a tour of all the objects on display, providing insight to the uses of the objects, and cultural significance.
